Theodore Roosevelt
Over the past decade, I have served the community of Tupper Lake in a number of roles. In 2009, I volunteered to join the group of businesses and individuals who revitalized the Big Tupper Ski Area as the original volunteer coordinator. I also worked with the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce as their Events Chairman from 2009 thru 2011. In 2011, I was elected to the Village of Tupper Lake and served four years as Trustee, Fire & Parks Commissioner, and Economic Development Coordinator. In those four years, I learned a great deal about local government and how the community runs. In 2014, I was appointed by the Franklin County legistlature to represent the TL region on the Tourism Advisory Committee.
This dedication to community service comes from my families long history in Tupper Lake. My Grandfather, Ernest Gionet came to Tupper Lake in the 1920's from Canada and founded several businesses, including Gionet's Hardware & Marine ( now Rule's Dock & Marine ) and Gionet & Vaillancourt Construction. My parents, Don & Jean Donah also owned and operated Montgomery Wards & JC Penney Catalog stores on Park Street. I now operate the Union Block Building, LLC offering affordable housing options for people working in the Tupper Lake area.
I am committed to serving my community as best I can through efforts such as the TL Recreational Plan. I believe the best is yet to come, but it will take a strategic vision, hard work, and strong advocacy within New York State to make the improvements to our local economy! On November 2, 2021, I am running for Town of Tupper Lake councilman. I would sincerely appreciate your support in this year's election, thank you.
Rick Donah, Town of Tupper Lake candidate.
